The Flavors of Japan Have Arrived to Merida

The talented and charismatic chef Yasuo Asai brings the flavors and delights of his cuisine to the beautiful city of Merida. Asai Merida opened its doors a few days ago, in one of the most coveted addresses of this fascinating destination: Villa Mercedes Merida, Curio Collection by Hilton.

Located in the heart of Mérida, the interiors and accommodations of Villa Mercedes Mérida are inspired by its location within a restored colonial mansion. The hotel is within walking distance of many attractions such as the Casa Montes Molina Museum, the Municipal Palace of Merida and the Paseo de Montejo.

As part of the hotel's conversion to Curio Collection, the property has undergone extensive renovations to the lobby and reception, restaurant and outdoor pool with construction led by Esquiliano Architects and Arkham Projects. Curio Collection by Hilton is a portfolio of more than 100 upscale, upscale hotels and resorts around the world.

After delving into the hotel's modern and daring interior, and being dazzled by design elements such as its rooftop library and mesmerizing water mirrors among elegant sculptures of traditional fabrics in the bar, I made my way to the stage where unique culinary experiences will be held: Asai Mérida.

Of Japanese specialty and teppanyaki, the restaurant is the fourth opening of the renowned Chef Yasuo, from Nagoya, who has delighted us in his delicacies with two restaurants in Polanco and one in Punta Mita. Here in Merida, the Chef has created a portal to the delicacies of Japan using authentic cooking methods and the freshest and tastiest ingredients in the country.

The decoration of the restaurant is unique; a tall wall strewn with coconuts hides a sinuous private living room, and the play of black stone with light woods speaks of sophistication and modern elegance. Each space is unique, from the bar to the teppanyaki table, immersing us in a sensory experience.

Asai Mérida's original and exquisite creations elevate the senses and position the beautiful Villa Mercedes hotel as one of the city's culinary leaders, now home to one of the most spectacular Japanese restaurants in all of Mexico. Its opening a few days ago sets the standard for the gastronomic excellence that awaits us in this charming destination, full of history, art and, now, the unforgettable culinary art of Chef Yasuo Asai.
