My dear friend Carlos Moro has more medals than en olympic athlete.
And now his beautiful Matarromera Prestigio was recognised as The Best Red Wine from the Old World in China.

A Spanish wine, specifically Matarromera Prestigio produced in Ribera del Duero, has been prized with The Best Old World Red Wine by the prestigious international QWINE competition. These awards were organised within the framework of the QWINE Expo Fair that was held in the city of Qingtian in Zhejiang province of China, from November 17th to 19th.
QWINE TOP 100 WINE COMPETITION AWARDS has selected Matarromera Prestigio to receive this special award from the best 100 wines of 100 wineries from all over the world, that were chosen to participate. A jury, made up by wine importers and distributors specialising in the Chinese market, chose the winning wines at the first World Fair of Imported Products held in Qingtian. This Chinese city has experienced spectacular development in terms of imported wines and is committed to creating a "World Wine Centre" and becoming China's leading location for international wines.
As part of its strategy of growth and international expansion, Matarromera considers the Asian continent a key market for developing its high-end wine exports. Matarromera products have been present in Asia for ten years and the company’s objective is to continue growing, together with the network of importers that it has been expanding over these years. Carlos Moro, president of Matarromera, frequently travels to Asia and visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Changzhou last year, among other locations.
Matarromera Prestigio is a limited production wine with only 14,500 bottles produced from a specific plot: Pago de las Solanas, the most exceptional estate owned by Matarromera. Prestigio is only produced in years when the grape and the vintage reach the quality the winery demands, creating a voluminous wine with an intense cherry colour. It carries toasted tones and very ripe fruit flavours, preserving a powerful base structure of sweet tannins with a long finish. Prestigio is one of the wines that best combines the elegance and modernity of this traditional winery located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, specifically in Valbuena de Duero, Valladolid.
