Within the Matetsi Natural Reserve the only sounds we can hear are the singing of the birds and, from time to time in the distance, the heavy steps of an elephant. Nestled on an exclusive stretch of the Zambezi River, &Beyond Matetsi River Lodge celebrates the region’s fascinating heritage with authentic features and effortlessly combines them with light and airy contemporary interiors.
Set in an unbelievable landscape within the Matetsi Reserve, the Lodge is made up of two camps. Clad in an intricate woven pattern that calls to mind the country’s rich heritage, the cool and spacious suites boast contemporary interiors embellished with natural finishes, and decorated with abstract pieces of art created by a renowned local artist. Set in the deep shade of riverside trees, each camp has a dedicated guest area with sweeping views of the Zambezi.
Recently opened, this amazing place is the perfect Gateway to one of the world’s most spectacular natural marvel: The Victoria Falls. These breath-taking cataracts have a width of approximately 1.7 kilometers and 108 meters high. They are an extraordinary spectacle; to see how they fall into an abyss is a sight that cannot be better appreciated anywhere else in the world.
This exotic location is also perfect for those who have fallen in love with African safaris. A few steps from the Lodge one can find buffaloes and elephants enjoying the turbulent waters of the Zambezi. Within the 50,000 hectares of the Reserva we can observe the predators, stalking their prey among the tall Masasa trees.
&Beyond turns every moment into a unique and ever-lasting memory. In Matetsi we were surprised with an incredible breakfast at the middle of the concession, where in the wildest jungle we enjoy excellent food and wonderful service. We also enjoyed a surprise ice-cream in the bush!
